Located just south of Pescadero, California, The Pigeon Point Lighthouse offers easy access to the scenery surrounding the rugged coastline. The area around the lighthouse doesn’t offer much in the way of hiking trails. However, there is a vista point area with grand views of the Pacific Ocean where gray whales can often be spotted between January and April. The lighthouse is currently closed to the public during restoration efforts. There is a hostel onsite with nice accommodations. Weird, but true: the 115-foot lighthouse is one of the tallest lighthouses in America and has been in use since 1872.
