Tsaghakadzor - the Valley of Flowers, is a popular resort town. In the winter it is the skiers' territory, in the summer lovers of hiking and family picnics flood the area. Located on the road to Lake Sevan about 50 min drive away from Yerevan, Tsaghkadzor was the Olympic training ground for the skiing team during the Soviet times. The snow falls here usually early, around November and stays until late spring, although the climate changes of recent years have brought a decrease in snowfall. After some neglected years, the city has had a major revival: new hotels, restaurants, and most importantly a new ropeway have been constructed, with five modern lifts taking you all the way up the top of Mount Teghenis, with stops at each station, where you can relax in small cafes and get tea, coffee and snacks. Skiing gear is available for renting at these cafe stations. Price per entry is 1500 AMD. While in Tsaghkadzor visit the Kecharis Monastery, 11-13th centuries.
