Sure the most famous and insanely busy food market in Barcelona is "La Boquería" right by Las Ramblas. Yes, I do visit it from time to time, but if you want to see an actual market full of locals, you should rather go to Mercat de la Llibertat; a beautiful metal structure in a Modernist style, with an iron roof. Highlights include the worked iron in fantastic shapes on the two main facades, and the ceramic roof.
