Falernum. Copenhague, Denmark

a good starting place for a night out on the town. This intimate, low-key winebar is free of pretention and snobbery. It operates during the day as a cafe, and at night, as a wine bar where you can sample some of the best wine that Copenhagen has to offer.

With its long dark wooden tables and matching chairs, Falernum is down to earth and has room for everybody, not exuding any of the snobbery you could expect from most wine bars.

Opened by a veteran owner of several of Copenhagen’s better wine bars, Falernum happens to offer much more than a place to wallow in wines. It’s open from early morning, mostly functioning as a café serving breakfast and lunch, tea and coffee throughout the day. In the evenings it switches over to a wine bar proper, while also serving tapas, and is understandably frequented by a steady group of regulars.
