In a side street within the old district of Jordaan, home of the mini museum, sits American artist Nick Padalino’s 1960s throwback basement wonderland, the first ever museum dedicated to fluorescent art. The museum is lovingly named after the 1968 Jimmy Hendrix album where you’ll catch Nick with his partner, all too ready to share the joys of their glow in the dark collection of crystals.
You’re welcome to become a part of the exhibit in one of their guided tours where you can experience a mini world of peepholes, rocks, nooks, walls and artworks shine every kind of neon colour whilst exposed to different wavelengths of light. Or you can hush up and attempt to take it all in from one of their famous demonstrations.
The museum showcases self-made pieces alongside trinkets Nick has picked up from all over the world. Head down if you’re feeling trippy for the most genuinely enthusiastic talk on fluorescent artwork and psychedelic rocks going.Van Vlaanderen
