The Alcazaba (Muslim citadel) is a palatial fortress from the 11th century. It is the best preserved in Spain. It was built on the hill of Mount Gibralfaro to watch and control invasions by sea. It covers two citadels: outer citadel, with gardens and fountains; and inner citadel: the palatial fortress. It had an advanced sewer system that supplied an entire district located in the inner citadel. Price: 2.20 €/person. Visiting hours: Summer: from 9 to 20:15h. Winter: from 8:30 to 19:30h.
