Super-chef Dani García (of Michelin-star Calima Restaurant in Marbella) is responsible for this little gem of a place just off Calle Larios. It’s his latest gourmet tapas bar venture, this one being paired with a sister bar that is soon to open on Park Avenue in New York. Half the menu is devoted to “Málaga to New York” tapas and the flip side (the “return flight”) has “New York to Málaga” food, featuring stylised takes on traditional American fare.
The bulltail burger, served with a killer mayonnaise made from the juices of the meat, is not to be missed. Other favourites are the tempura langoustines with basil and a surprising pork taco made with Iberian pork ribs. And, always a pleasure to see (or not to see), no superfluous bread charge on the bill.
The decor is modern, with clean lines and plenty of light from the big windows, contrasting nicely with views of the old traditional street outside. It’s busy and buzzy, so be sure to get there early to grab a spot at the bar.
