Alhambra or the Red Castle is a citadel with Moorish and Christian palaces, built in the 13th to 16th centuries. It was originally constructed as a fortress in 889 and later converted into a royal palace in 1333 by Yusuf I, Sultan of Granada. Gardens and fortresses accompany this complex, listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.
