E Pellicci

I recently visited Pellicci's in Bethnal Green for Saturday breakfast and am still telling everyone about the overwhelmingly friendly service, ambience and delicious breakfast. It's a small, Italian family-run traditional 'caff' or 'greasy spoon' that has been serving customers (including the notorious Kray brothers) since 1900, and in 2005 was awarded Grade II listed status by English Heritage for its unique interior design. Owner Nevio served us on the day, and his mother Maria kindly gave us some of her delicious homemade bread pudding to take home with us. I had the full English breakfast (served all day) and my husband the vegetarian version. What's great is the option to add or swap ingredients or just create your own full English breakfast from a long list of ingredients. Next time I'll go for lunch as Maria still cooks all the pasta dishes. Tip from Nevio - it gets very busy from around 11.00 on Saturdays.
