Nishi-Azabu is full of tiny hip restaurants and bars that can be pretty hard to find, especially at night. We were taken by Japanese friends to their favourite hangout. There, we had one of the best evenings of the two week trip with innovative dishes, excellent company and relaxed company.
Highlights include fresh oysters with yuzu & wasabi sauce and seared katsuo with ankimo (raw monkfish liver) & grated daikon. Hale Kai's original lobster stock cheese risotto was out of this world, as was the scallop & uni (sea urchin) cream spaghettini with ikura (salmon roe). Highly recommended!
