The British Museum is always packed with visitors, no matter what time of the day you go. So if you haven't booked tickets for the current must-see exhibition and don't fancy being pushed about at the Elgin Marbles, then why not escape to Room 95?
I had to ask for directions but once I found Room 95, I didn't want to leave. It's the new home for the marvellous Sir Percival David collection of Chinese ceramics, which I used to admire in its former location on Gordon Square. The collection is the largest outside China, with approximately 1700 objects dating from the 3rd through to the 20th century and the quality is outstanding.
Trying to see everything can be overwhelming, but it's a wonderful part of the museum where art can be appreciated in peace and quiet.
