Viajante Bar

Viajante Bar is so damn fine, that I was back within a fortnight of the first visit. The old town hall setting holds all the slick, atmospheric charm of a Wong Kar Wai film set, without compromising its laid back feel. Both nights I was there, I was in the most pleasant manner possible to discover that what I know about tea is about as much use as a dildo in a bar brawl; our esteemed editor, during our first stop, got his a$$ whooped on the whiskey and bourbon front. However his vegetarian face lit up like a kid at Christmas when his beer, described succinctly as “bacon flavoured”, did indeed taste just like bacon, while his stunning missus looked on knocking back as good an Old Fashioned as you’ll find in this city. The array of beverages is amazing, the helpful staff is charm personified and the prices surprisingly low. We’re loving it. / Eamon Downes
