The construction of this Baroque church started in 1682 and was finished 284 years later. Today this monument is one of Lisbon`s most impressive landmarks. The interior is built from marble, the roof is a giant dome, from which you can have a breathtaking view after climbing 187 stairs, or enjoying the convenience of the elevator. Today the church, known as the National Pantheon, houses cenotaphs of Portuguese heroes.
