The Possessió of Son Marroig, as well as Miramar and the Museu of Son Marroig, is one of the many properties acquired by the Archduke Luís Salvador de Austria (1847-1915) who, when he arrived to the island, fell in love with the landscapes of its north coast. The author of 'Die Balearen' refurbished the old house, restored a fortified tower dating from the XVI century and added new constructions in an italian-like style.
He also built -on one end of the garden- this small neoclassical temple in Carrara marble. It is a privileged mirador from where it is possible to see Sa Foradada and even the island of Sa Dragonera.
Since 1978 Son Marroig hosts the annual Internacional Festival of Deià, dedicated to chamber music.
Open Monday to Saturday. Price: 3 €.
