Note

The European Museum of Modern Art, MEAM, is owned by 'TheFoundation of Arts and Artists', with the purpose to promote and diffuse Figurative Art of the 20th and 21st Centuries. Its main goal is to provide shelter and to promote artists who, for practicing figurative, realist or hyperrealist arts, are usually excluded from other museums, foundations or institutions for which, in general, the concept of “contemporary art” does not include figurative representation.

The MEAM houses artists still alive and specialized in Contemporative Figurative Art. These artworks are hardly seen in other museums, collections or entities, to whom the word Contemporary is identified by experiment and abstraction.

The museum is located at the Gomis Palace, a Neoclassic building of the 18th Century, near the Picasso museum and in the middle of the streets of the Born in Barcelona, so reflecting the charm of the old part of the city. The Gomis Palace was built by the merchant Francesc Gomis in the year 1791, with the help of Arquitect Joan Garrido. (Pictures by courtesy of MEAM)

Open: Starting October, The MEAM will remain open, from 10:00 to 19:00 h.

The Museum will be closed on:
All Mondays. January 1st, May 1st, December 25th and 26th.
