The Balearic Museum of Natural Sciences (MBCN), a culmination of an idea that originated amongst a group of naturalists, enthusiasts and specialists in different branches of Biology and Earth Sciences in the municipality of Sóller (Majorca, Balearic Islands), is a naturalist entity dedicated to exhibit and conserve the natural heritage of the Balearic Islands, making the public aware of the importance of its preservation.
The Museum, which is under municipal ownership, is run by a non-profit association and offers five exhibition rooms. Within the framework of the scientific culture of the Balears, the Museum is an important institution and has helped, since its inauguration, to bring the public closer to the scientific understanding of the surrounding nature.
