Torre Velasca. Milan, Italy
Note

Built in the 1950s as part of the first wave of Italian modern architecture, the Velasca Tower echoes the structure of medieval fortresses and towers, being smaller at the base and larger toward the top to ward off intruders. The tower is within walking distance of the Duomo, so make sure to take a stroll over and gaze at the fascinating blend of the past Lombardic architecture and the sleek and efficient aesthetic of the new.
