Casual meal with a view
The Mount Faber Leisure Group is the latest to go casual, combining its previous fine dining establishments Black Opal and Sapphire into no-frills, East-meets-West eatery Spuds & Aprons. The view from the top’s still terrific from its alfresco perch, while the food is predictably heavy on the potatoes. Start off with the wicked fries and gravy with six types of cheeses and brown gravy ($8) and work your way through local dishes like the XO fish noodles soup ($10) and Singapore laksa ($8). Hearty mains include the tobiko crusted cod fillet ($28) and grilled char siew lamb rack ($38); save room for the chempedak bread and butter pudding ($10), a croissant with creamy custard and a scoop of chocolate ice cream.
