Across the river from Old Market around 3 km from the centre of Siem Reap in a local village behind Wat Enkosei (Wat Leu) is the aptly named Touich Restaurant (touich means small in Khmer, and is the nickname of the Chef). Set in a small garden in a Khmer-style building lit by fairy lights is the restaurant and bar. The setting is romantic, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is tasty Khmer favourites. Barbecued Red Snapper, which is the speciality of the house, is highly recommended. Touich has a good selection of cocktails and wines and being a little off the beaten track is frequented more by expats rather than visitors. The journey to Touich can be a fun adventure in itself and it is wise to ensure the remork driver has directions on how to get there from the restaurant staff, or you travel with the phone number of the restaurant handy.
