Note

Siem Reap’s first Khmer kickboxing stadium opened in March 2013 in Charles de Gaulle Road near Sofitel. The art of Khmer kickboxing and bokator date back to Angkorian times and stone carvings at some of the temples show warriors fighting using the bokator style of kickboxing. Today Khmer kick boxing is one of the most popular national sports with an international reputation. Khmer kick boxing is also referred to as free boxing which means that the boxer can use all kinds of strikes from punches to kicks to elbows and knee strikes. However, there are also some rules and limitations as well. Televised CTN Angkor Arena tournaments are held every Monday from 5 – 7.30pm and Wednesday from 4 – 6.30pm. Demonstration matches are also held daily 8 – 9pm daily. Tickets for matches or demonstration matches cost $15 per person for foreigners.
