Note

This tiny park just north of St Paul's Cathedral is perfect for a short rest from sightseeing. I call it tiny but within the walled City of London (London's financial district), it's actually one of its largest parks. Built in 1880 on top of former burial grounds, it later became popular with nearby postal workers, hence its name.

Not long after, Postman's Park became the location for an artist's memorial to ordinary people who sacrificed their lives to save others. Called The Memorial to Heroic Self Sacrifice, this consists of a wall of tablets briefly naming each person and his or her heroic deed. Grab a coffee and spend a little time here to reflect on the lives of these heroes.
