Zemun

It is one of the few pretty areas in this largely grey and Soviet looking city. Zemun is what remains from Belgrade's Austro- Hungarian heritage with its pretty but decaying houses and cobblestoned streets. There is a big market in the center which sells everything from veggies and fruits to clothes. Down by the river promenade you will find many cafés. Up in the narrow streets there are many charming houses, old churches and a beautiful view over Belgrade.
