An organic farmers' market started by my good friends Janice Leung and Vince Poon. Taking place every Sunday (until 16 December 2012, and hopefully returning in 2013... TBC!), Island East Markets is a great new initiative that brings together Hong Kong's best farmers' produce, as well as independent and artisanal products, in an open-air market environment. Some of my favourite stallholders so far include: Ming Cha (artisanal tea; ask Vivian for her osmanthus jellies!); Spatula (pastries and desserts); Chaiwanese (hand drip coffee); Jouer Patisserie (French patisserie with an Asian angle); Tangram (bright and beautiful fashion designs); My Fashion Birdcage (secondhand and vintage ware); and countless fruit and veg stalls owned by passionate local farmers. Live music and cooking demonstrations round off the offerings. Support local businesses and pay a visit!
