Husband and wife team, Gregory Llewellyn and Naomi Hart, met while cheffing and running front of house respectively in New York. After a secret romance outside the kitchen, they married and have since moved back to Naomi's hometown of Sydney to set up their new restaurant in Newtown, a grungy little suburb outside the CBD.
Hartsyard is their first offering and is fabulous. Think of it as a more educated version of American 'dude food'. Fried Chicken, Oyster Po'boys and Smoked Beef Short-ribs, or lighter dishes like Shaved Mushroom & Raw Artichoke salad or 'Salmon Cooked in a Jar'. Desserts are incredible such as the Strawberry and Pineapple Ice-Box Cake with Lavender tapioca, Creamed soda and Pineapple sherbet or Deep Fried Cheese Cake with Yuzu, Popcorn ice cream, Blueberry and Honeycomb.
