Haw Par Villa was once quite a popular park back in the day, built by the brothers who created Tiger Balm. Initially meant as a place for the general public to hang out and to educate them on Chinese values, it also became a collection of some rather weird sculptures and dioramas, including the infamous Ten Courts of Hell (like a Confucianist Dante's Inferno) and a bunch of anthropomorphic half-animal-half-human sculptures. These days it's quite run down and more of a curiousity for the adventurous traveller who might want to see a lesser known side of Singapore.
