Valea Viilor fortified church. Valea Viilor, Romania

One of the seven villages listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for fortified churches in Transylvania

Valea Viilor is a commune located in Sibiu County, Romania. It has a population of 2,034 (as of 2002), and is composed of two villages, Motiș (Mortesdorf; Martontelke) and Valea Viilor. Each of these has a fortified church. The church is beautiful but (at least when we were there, in winter) you cant enter. But you can take pictures from the outside and it's easy to get to, just 4km from the main road on good roads.
