How do you get twenty- and thirtysomethings back into the museum that bored them when they were kids?
Stock it with a few bars, several DJs, an array of local food stalls, special exhibits, and open it up on Friday nights.
Friday Night Live at the Royal Ontario Museum started a few years ago and runs for six week stretches every spring and late fall, so if you're in town, hop online and grab tickets early to avoid having to buy at the door.
Tickets are less than $15 and drink / food tickets are $6 each. Food vendors change every week but feature amazing local talent (we're giddy when Hot Bunzz is there). DJs on two floors keep the party going with different styles of music, and the exhibits are all open for the first few hours of the evening, giving you an awesome way to check out the museum (drink in hand) without paying the regular pricey admission.
The ROM is known for its fantastic collection of dinos, hence FNL's nickname of 'Drinking With Dinos'. We grab a group of friends and go at least once per season, and if you're in town at the same time, we highly recommend you do the same.
Dress is nice casual (some girls wear heels, but if you want to wander around the museum all night, we don't recommend it). Jeans and sneakers are totally fine and you won't be turned away at the door, but try to look sharp, won't ya?!
