American photographer John McDermott first visited Siem Reap in 1995 and is one of the first professional photographers to truly capture the ancient mystery and allure of the Angkor temples on film.
The black and white images taken on infrared film have become the definitive images of the Angkor archaeological site, and have been exhibited in galleries, magazines, and newspapers around the world.
Since settling in Siem Reap with his family, John McDermott has opened three galleries – at the Foreign Correspondents Club on Pokambor Avenue, in The Alley near Old Market, and at Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor. The galleries also exhibit photographs and artwork from other international artists from time to time.
