Theam’s House is the home, studio, and gallery of Cambodian artist and designer Lim Muy Theam. The traditional wooden house and gardens are an oasis from the dusty streets outside.
Apprentice artisans train at the studio and can be seen painting, fine sculpting, lacquering, and gilding. Theam’s House also features a showroom of sculptures, lacquerwork, and paintings.
His work, which has received international acclaim, is original, colourful and visually appealing. The creative flair of the designs, ranging from decorative lacquer boxes, and many coloured ceramic elephants to life size portraits and homewares, has injected new life into the Cambodian arts scene.
Theam’s House is free to visit however you may find it hard to resist making a purchase of one of the beautiful pieces to take home with you. It is recommended that you phone before you visit Theam’s House so your driver knows how to get there.
