In our opinion, Chef Matt Basile is a bit of a genius.
He started out as Fidel Gastro's, a food truck, and soon was on Travel + Escape's Rebel Without a Kitchen, before opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant on Queen West called Lisa Marie.
Serving up an ever-changing array of delectable cicchetti (tapas) dishes, these guys focus on local ingredients and local bevvies. The staff are all wicked, and the food is incredible.
One of the only things to keep cropping up on the menu is the Alabama Tailgaters, which we have a sliiiiight obsession with. The plates are all meant to be shared with your dining buddies, but we aren't very good at sharing the tailgaters...
There are often live bands and DJs, particularly Thurs - Sat, and Tap That Thursdays are a fantastic way to sample local craft breweries (some of whom aren't even bottling yet).
To say we like Lisa Marie is an understatement. We're rather in love. Go for a meal and you'll see why.
