The Ramblers Rest, Coulsdon

This is a lovely old fashioned pub and restaurant. The decor is nice and the layout of the whole place is spacious. The menu looks better than it tastes though which is a huge shame. I was disappointed with the chunky chips as they tasted quite greasy and the ham was offered to me as hot or cold... I really should've gone for cold as heated tasted like it had been dipped into the fat fryer.
And bigger disappointment was that children were both seen and heard. In this kind of establishment, paying almost fine-dining prices; it would've been nicer to not have to listen to children in an otherwise adult environment. But we got there at 12noon so missed the noisiest bits I'm sure! staff seemed nice enough.
