Oliver Goldsmith eyewear achieved celebrity cult status in the 1950s and 60s when his glasses were worn by stars from Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly to Michael Caine and Peter Sellers. The family run business, which was founded in 1926, is still the place to buy a pair of iconic frames.
Three years ago I ordered a pair of bespoke sunglasses from the OG Vintage Archive. This is located in an extraordinary lounge downstairs, where you can choose from over 500 pairs of vintage frames.
The sunglasses are handmade in England by skilled craftsmen to your specific measurements and requirements, so it does take 6-8 weeks before they're ready. However, they're certainly worth both the wait and the cost and will last many years (my name is engraved on the inside of the one of the arms!).
