Sovanna Phum Shadow Puppet Theatre

Sovanna Phum means Golden Era in Khmer, and golden this puppet show certainly is. Performers bring the rich traditions of performing arts to life, from Angkorian times to present day, through the use of puppets.

The show runs every Friday and Saturday from 7.30 – 8.30pm. Depending on the evening you may experience shadow puppet theatre, percussion, classical Apsara dancing, folk dances, circus, or traditional theatre.

Made up of graduates of the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, Sovanna Phum is an organisation working to offer opportunities for Cambodian artists to earn a living through their arts, as well as promote Cambodia’s cultural treasures. Small and large shadow puppets are available for purchase at the puppet gallery at the theatre.
